Animals to touch at the GreenCare farm
Our “Reiterhof” is a certified GreenCare farm for animal education and has been involved in animal-assisted intervention for over 10 years, so that you and your family can safely go for a walk with our donkeys, for a very close contact with the animals.
Animal-assisted education in Austria involves the targeted use of farm animals for educational purposes, whether through animal-assisted work or direct contact with animals on the farm. On our educational farm, intensive animal contact is combined with basic agricultural activities and processes to provide an enriching learning experience.
Our qualifications
We have been proud to be a certified Green Care farm since 2013. Green Care generally stands for activities and interactions between humans, animals and nature. To achieve this status, we have completed additional pedagogical qualifications and met strict criteria.
- Positive completion of an LFI (Rural Development Institute) course
- Correct husbandry of livestock in accordance with organic guidelines
- Continuously monitored animal health
- Obtaining the safety badge of the Farmers’ Social Insurance Institution
- Selected, trained and tested farm animals
Animal-assisted pedagogy at the riding stables
Animal pedagogy focuses on the promotion of mental, emotional and physical health and well-being, in harmony with education and upbringing. Children experience moments of happiness with friendly, trained animals in various exercises. Animal partners are reliable and do not judge children. Animals appreciate honest, loving contact and convey calm and basic trust to young visitors. This makes it easier to overcome challenges of all kinds – whether physical, mental or spiritual.
